Rage Against The Machine Makes Christmas No 1

It's not exactly the most Christmassy Christmas No 1, but American rock band Rage Against the Machine and their single "Killing in the Name" have triumphed over X-Factor winner Joe McElderry and his debut single "The Climb". It was a close run thing, but eventually the power of a viral internet campaign organised via Facebook was too much for the X-Factor marketing machine. We doubt Simon Cowell will be too upset though, as we're sure that Joe McElderry will be a great success anyway, and would not be surprised to see a McElderry Number One in the not too distant future.
